Installation Instructions

This document contains information related to the installation of Bitplane's software and licenses. For information related to Imaris Open, ImarisXT, Matlab or Python scripting, please visit our FAQ section.

1) Download

- Login to the customer portal at http://portal.bitplane.com/

- Go to the download section and get the newest version of Imaris.

2) Install Software

- Start the installation software by double-clicking the downloaded file.

- Alternatively, if you received the software on CD, run Setup.exe from the CD (Windows only).

- Follow the instructions of the installation software.

3) Install Licenses

If you have purchased Bitplane's Imaris software, and you want to install node-locked licenses, i.e. licenses that grant permission to run the licensed software on one computer only, the Imaris software will guide you through the license installation as follows:

Imaris 9.5 and higher / Node-locked

- Start Imaris on the computer on which you want to install licenses. Note that it is not possible to repeat the license installation on another computer unless you have purchased several licenses.

- The License Settings window will appear (because no license is configured yet).

- Click on the ‘C’ symbol (Configurator) in order to acquire the license file.

- Enter the login for the administrator account (if asked for).

- In the License Administrator application choose 'Add License Location'.

- Choose 'Download Node-Locked License'.

- Select the Host-ID of the network device that will never be deactivated (e.g. the LAN-adapter).

- Enter the Order-ID from your purchase confirmation email or invoice.

- Click 'OK'.

- The new license file will be acquired automatically.

- If the computer with Imaris has no Internet access, instructions for how to work around this will automatically appear

- Click 'Finish'.

- Back in Imaris' license dialogue click 'Next'.

- You will be guided through the normal Imaris setup after a new installation.

Imaris 7.3 to 9.3 / Node-locked

- Start Imaris on the computer on which you want to install licenses. Note that it is not possible to repeat the license installation on another computer unless you have purchased several licenses.

- The License Settings window will appear (because no license is configured yet).

- Click on the key symbol (License Administrator) in order to acquire the license file.

- Enter the login for the administrator account (if asked for).

- In the License Administrator application choose 'Add License Location'.

- Choose 'Download Node-Locked License'.

- Select the Host-ID of the network device that will never be deactivated (e.g. the LAN-adapter).

- Enter the Order-ID from your purchase confirmation email or invoice.

- Click 'OK'.

- The new license file will be acquired automatically.

- If the computer with Imaris has no Internet access, instructions for how to work around this will automatically appear

- Click 'Finish'.

- Back in Imaris' license dialogue click 'Next'.

- You will be guided through the normal Imaris setup after a new installation.

Imaris 7.2 and below / Node-locked

- Start Imaris on the computer on which you want to install licenses. Note that it is not possible to repeat the license installation on another computer unless you have purchased several licenses.

- You will be prompted to specify a license configuration.

- Press "Online" if your computer is connected to the internet. (Otherwise follow "Imaris Offline" instructions of the License Installation Guide.)

- If asked, select the Host-ID of the network device that will never be deactivated (e.g. the LAN-adapter).

- Enter the Order-ID from your purchase confirmation email or invoice.

- You receive a list of products corresponding to the Order-ID.

- Carefully choose those products that you want to install on the computer.

- "Update/Install Licenses" to install the licenses for the chosen products.

- Restart Imaris for the new licenses to take effect.
