Imaris 10.2 has two main features. It has significantly faster volume rendering than previous versions of Imaris. And Imaris 10.2 is the first version of Imaris that runs natively on Apple Silicon making it faster than previous versions on the same hardware.
Imaris 10.2 for the Mac comes in two versions. One is built for Intel X64 processors and the other for Arm processors, also known as M-chips. If you have a recent Mac computer with an M-chip, you will benefit from running the Imaris Arm version built specifically for these chips.
Volume rendering in Imaris10.2 is up to 2x faster than previously. Rotating the 3D view of large images on high resolution displays particularly benefits from this improvement.
The camera movements of keyframe animations in Imaris 10.2 were modified to give users better control of the animations. Effectively this is a fix of bug 4970.
In Imaris version 10.1 native machine learning segmentation for surfaces was introduced. In version 10.2 users can export the training voxels to tiff files which can then be loaded into other software like Labkit to run machine learning segmentation with the same training voxels there forcomparison and reproducibility.
