Tracing Neurons

Use Imaris Filament Tracer for automatic neuron and spine detection which is guided within the wizard based interface.


Measuring Distances

Calculate relative distances between objects in 3D space using Matlab XT function built in Imaris.


Detecting Cells

Use Imaris Cell to detect objects consisting of several smaller compartments and analyse them separately.


Detecting Surfaces

Use Imaris Surfaces to analyse features of 3D objects (Volume, Area, Speed and many more) and present the values on the Vantage Plot.


Tracking and Lineage

Track cell nuclei and detect cell division events; Label all cell nuclei and tracks coming from one mother cell with selected name and color.

Statistics and measurements

After segmenting the image data Imaris calculates a wide range of statistics for all detected objects: Filaments, Surfaces and Spots. All values can be used for color coding, plotted inside Imaris (using Vantage plots) or exported in an .csv or .xls file format. Parameters presented below are the most common statistic types needed by biologists. Imaris reports many more.
